This sweater is much like my old Filson Waterfower sweater in look, quality & warmth. It’s a very nice, warm and the waxed cotton top & sleeves are very water resistant. The buttons are hard to work initially but after wearing a few days they loosen up. The same can be said about the collar…it was very stiff but loosened up after a few days. I’ve not worn it in the rain but if you por water on the waxed sleeve it runs off it like water on a duck’s back. Finally know that with McAlister tops, the fit runs one size larger than your normal sizing. My first order was my normal XL & it was huge on me! I returned it for a large & the fit was perfect! I’m very happy with this sweater & would buy it again!

This is a very nice & functional wool sweater. The top is waxed cotton that needs a break in period as it’s very stiff when you first put it on. The wool is thick & heavy & will keep you warm and the waxed cotton is water & wind proof! The sweater runs really large so size down. I ordered an XL and it was huge on me. Their customer service department was excellent to work with & I exchanged it for a large,which was a perfect fit. This sweater will be part of my Fall & winter hunting collection. It’s a perfect fit under a pair of waders or a night out on the town.

Last few days of duck season in Arkansas was in the teens I wore this under my shell. And was completely fine. Wind was near 20 mph. This thing does great at insulating.

Ordered the medium after reading reviews. I am 5'11, 190lbs and it fits great. Very comfortable and well made. The waxed cotton is a little stiff but nice and windproof and should soften with use. The wool cuffs are big and comfortable but not too tight around the wrists. The collar wants to be buttoned up even when the buttons are undone. First few times of wearing the collar would chafe my neck but with use is getting softer and able to somewhat fold over the last button to open up the neck . The wool body of the sweater is warm but not windproof but should pair nicely with a wind proof vest and or waders. Very classy traditional sweater that should be great for next waterfowl season.
