At the age of 12, Steve Bierle's older brother let him tag along on a duck hunt with a buddy near their central MN home. While the hunt only produced a lone bluebill in the bag, the experience created an obsession for waterfowling has taken Steve to eight states and 3 Canadian provinces in pursuit of ducks and geese. His passion for calling waterfowl led him to begin competing in duck and goose calling contests throughout the region. His accomplishments include winning the South Dakota State Duck and State Goose Calling Championships each three times. He also earned the rare distinction of competing at the highest level of both duck and goose calling competition, The World's Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas and the Avery International Goose Calling Contest in Marion, IL.
In addition to his exciting work with Drake, Steve is also a National Waterfowl Pro Staffer for Hunter's Specialties, makers of the HS Waterfowl line of waterfowl calls and accessories. Steve's work with Hunter's Specialties involves promoting the sport of waterfowling through educational seminars and appearances, developing the Bad Medicine Series of Canada goose calls, and filming hunts for the "Take 'Em" series of waterfowl hunting videos and the HS Outdoors TV show on the Outdoor Channel.
Steve and his family of five live in Canton, SD where he owns and operates a company called Professional Habitat Development. He and his staff work throughout the state, assisting landowners with conservation planning and the development of wildlife habitat on their properties. When he's not working or chasing waterfowl, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, fly fishing, and chasing roosters with his yellow lab Annie.
