Randy is 24 years old and born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He started hunting when he was 11 or 12 years old. His immediate family never hunted, so he was not able to experience it with his father like a lot of youngsters did. He got his first taste of waterfowling in southern Minnesota with his cousins on a farm slough. That was the start of what he hopes to be a long, great career.
Once Randy was able to legally drive, his life in waterfowling took a turn toward obsession. He spent every hour he could trying to decoy birds, learning how they interact, finding new spots, and just having fun. The time he spent learning the animals he loves to hunt and eat sent him in to a deeper depth of disease.
With waterfowling taking over his life he decided to start his own outfit in Arizona. It is called Desert Wings Guide Service and he has been in operation since 2003. Randy is proud to be one of the only, if not the only, Arizona outfitters to specialize in waterfowl. He also guides for big game and upland birds. His success also has him working in the panhandle of Texas guiding for geese.
When not guiding clients, Randy spends most of his free time in the field with his best buddy Drake, his four year old black lab. They have put a lot of miles on together whether it be in the truck or in the field chasing birds.
He now has a new reason to chase waterfowl with the birth of his first child, six days before the 07' waterfowl opener. He is hoping his little man follows in his foot steps.
Randy has met a lot of wonderful people through hunting across this great country. He is very happy to call some of them family. The rich traditions that run deep in this sport are unlike no other! That is one reason Randy is proud to represent Drake Waterfowl.
