Nick Cottrell
 -NICK COTTRELL |
My name is Nick Cottrell. I live in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and I am currently 14 years old. I am a competition duck and goose caller and an avid water fowler. I have been water fowling since I was six years old. I also love to turkey hunt, dove hunt, and deer hunt. I currently have a two year old chocolate lab that I am training. I also am involved in the 4-H shooting sports program where I competitively shoot trap, archery, and .22 pistol. I am also a certified 4-H trap teen coach.
I am starting my freshman year in high school. I am in the National Honor Society and a member of the Junior Beta Club. I was also selected to the United States Achievement Academy as a United States National Honor Roll Award recipient. I have also played football for the last three years.
I have been competing in duck and goose calling contests since I was eight years old. I am currently 5 time Grand American Junior Goose Champion (1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004), and am the 2003 Grand American Goose Champion. I am also 3 time Winchester World Junior Novice Goose Calling Champion (2001, 2002, 2003). I have won over 90 top five finishes, both in duck and goose competitions, since I started in 1999. Thirty four of which were first place finishes.
I started waterfowl hunting in Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky and have hunted Manitoba, Ontario, Arkansas, and Tennessee. My turkey, deer, and dove hunting are done mostly in my home area of Western Kentucky. I have made lots of great friends along the way. I have also had the honor to band ducks and geese at the Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary in Kingsville, Ontario.
Best of luck and happy hunting to all.
