Marty Fischer
Marty Fischer is one of America's best-known outdoor personalities. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, he is seen on national cable television by millions of outdoor enthusiasts and is read by more than a million outdoorsmen each month. He is a host of highly acclaimed Shotgun Journal series currently seen on The Outdoor Channel. Other TV credits include: shooting professional for Suzuki Great Outdoors on ESPN, Pull - America's Great Gun Clubs and Direct Hit on OLN, American Hunter on The Outdoor Channel, Mossy Oak's Hunting the Country and Remington Country on TNN and SportShooting America on Fox Sports South.
He is a professional wingshooter, National Sporting Clays Association Level III shooting instructor and gun club designer. To date, he has designed more than 100 sporting clays facilities throughout North America, and has been referred to as "perhaps the most sought after gun club designer in America" by the Knoxville News-Sentinal newspaper.
He is the host of four hunting and two sporting clays instructional videos, An Introduction to Sporting Clays (1992), Developing Your Own Style of Shooting (1997), The Art and Science of Pheasant Hunting (1998), The Art and Science of Duck Hunting (1998) and The Art and Science of Goose Hunting (1999). These videos are on wing shooting and clay target instruction, and are available in major sporting goods retailers and over the Internet. His latest video offering is called "Wingshooting - Putting More Birds in Your Bag." (2005). They are currently available at www.shotgunjournal.com.
Additionally he has appeared in numerous hunting videos including Mossy Oak's Whistling Wings II, Mossy Oak's Extreme Spring 5 and Green Timber Duck Hunting II with Kirk McCullough.
He is an internationally read outdoor writer with columns and/or features in such publications as Quail Unlimited Magazine, Sporting Clays Magazine, Dove Hunter Magazine, Turkey Call, Chevy Outdoors, Double Gun Journal, Sports Afield, Clay Shooting USA, Grey's Sporting Journal, Shooting Sportsman, Sporting Classics and many more.
His first book, If it Flies…, is being published by Safari Press in 2006. His second book, Limbhangers and 4-Letter Words is being finalized and will also be published by Safari Press. If it Flies… is on wingshooting and Limbhangers and 4-Letter Words is on turkey hunting.
Fischer is a five-time competitor in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas, and was a four-time finalist in that event. He is a three-time Georgia State Duck Calling Champion, a Great Lakes Calumet Regional Champion and a Southeastern Regional Duck Calling Champion.
He has taken big game, turkeys and birds in nine countries worldwide. Additionally he has owned two field champion Labrador retrievers, including the first ever chocolate Labrador to earn Master Hunting Retriever titles for AKC and NAHRA.
He is currently on the Pro Staff or has industry affiliations with a number of hunting and shooting related companies, such as Winchester Ammunition, Gobbler Guns, Mossy Oak Camo, Beretta USA, Bass Pro Shops, Arctic Cat, Stampede Camo Products, GripSwell Shooting Gloves, HIVIZ Sight Systems, Drake Waterfowl and ESP hearing protection.
