His father first introduced him to the sport as a young boy at age 10 and this ignited a burning desire in John to learn to hunt his game of choice - the Canada goose. Born & raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, serious goose calling for John began as far back as 1986 when at age 17; he entered his first sanctioned contest. John won several local competitions along with many top finishes but his most successful win was the title of Central Canadian Calling Champion in 1998. He has since retired from the calling circuit and is committed to running a very successful business in the food industry. John is also the founder and operator of Magnum Hunts, a World Class hunting club specializing in Canada goose hunting since 1985. Located in South Eastern Ontario, John spends much of his free time developing his outfitter business and hunting trophy whitetails. He is also fortunate enough to have his own DU project along with several ponds and marshes that he manages for hunting. A conservationist & sportsman, John is the chairperson for a local Ducks Unlimited chapter near his home and has been on board with DU for close to 20 years. Devoted to wildlife conservation, John assures the preservation and proper wildlife management of several properties that he owns & leases. His most recent devotion is to the QDM program (Quality Deer Management), where over 400 acres has been set aside on one of his farms to help improve the quality of the deer herd. John continues to appear in several magazines, newspaper articles, video productions & TV shows on waterfowling. His most recent venture was filmed with the DVD series of Fowl Pursuit. |
