Proudest Achievement- Watching my daughter shoot her first duck.
My wife, Amy, and I live in Southwest Georgia with our two beautiful children: Shelbie 8, and Scout 5.
I was very fortunate as a child to have a family that loved the outdoors. This opened up many opportunities for me to enjoy hunting. I grew up hunting deer and quail mostly, but waterfowl was always my favorite. I can still remember my first duck hunt at my grandparents' farm in Moultrie, Ga. My cousin, Keith and I and our Papa's old trusty yellow lab, "Reb Dog", stalked wood ducks for what seemed like hours. That experience started the great passion I have for retrievers and waterfowl today.
At age 16, I joined Ducks Unlimited and have been a member ever since. Ducks Unlimited is a very important part of my life and is something that I take very serious. I believe in their mission and want to do my part to conserve waterfowl for today, tomorrow and forever. I have been a volunteer for our local DU chapter (Lake Seminole) for the past 8 years. As chairman, my primary focus is on the kids. Our children are the future of our sport and as a community we need to do something that has a positive impact on their future. And what better way to do that, than taking a child hunting when given the opportunity.
Retrievers have always been a part of my life, I trained my first lab when I was 17 years old. It always amazed me at what these wonderful animals were capable of doing with just a little time and dedication. Over the past several years I have been training professionally and have my own kennel www.flintriverretrievers.net. I have been competing in AKC and UKC hunt test since 2005. One of my proudest achievements so far is obtaining the title HRCH on my black lab Pearl. I am a member of the Tallahassee Hunting Retriever Club and SOWEGA Hunting Retriever Club
During the hunting season, I guide part time at Southwind Plantation in Bainbridge, Ga. When I am not guiding quail hunts, I am with my trusty lab Pearl, somewhere between Georgia and Mississippi trying to get a limit of ducks for the day. I very honored to be a member of the Drake Waterfowl Field Expert team. I believe Drake Waterfowl products are superior to any on the market. I have hunted in some of the worst conditions from Georgia to Texas and Drake Waterfowl has always kept me warm and dry.
