My whole family enjoys the outdoors; The Delmarva Peninsula where we live has everything you can think of to do. At the age of 6, I would pile in the truck every Saturday & each holiday to go hunting at our farm in Cambridge, MD, where we were would hunt geese, rabbit, quail, deer or ducks on the pond. From then on almost everyday after school in the fall & winter, my friends and I would go target shooting or plinking in the fields behind my house. Now days' being outdoors is just our lifestyle. The last few years waterfowl season has started in late July with a trip to Uruguay where ducks were present by the hundreds. Then the first of September would begin our resident goose and early teal seasons in Maryland & Delaware. By the end of the month we would go to Saskatchewan, Canada for Lessers , Snows, and Specks along with Mallards & Pintails. October & part of November are mixed with deer hunting Maryland/Delaware , but after Thanksgiving the big show starts with ducks & geese daily between our flooded impoundments in Princess Ann ,MD. We also occupy cornfields all around Berlin, Show Hill, Public Landing and the big bay for Diver Ducks. I am pretty good on my Tim Ground's Super Mag. I started using a Ground's Half-Breed when I was in 8th grade and have been a licensed master hunting guide in Maryland since high school. As for the past few years I've only taken a few parties, due to all of my family and friends that want to hunt waterfowl with us now. For 10 years after college, I was a fulltime offshore charter boat Captain in the spring, summer and early fall catching Marlin, Tuna, Wahoo, Dolphins, and Sharks! Here in Ocean City, Maryland, I still fish both inshore & offshore more as a Tournament Angler as opposed to a Captain. I fish both locally and traveling aboard to Costa Rica & the Bahamas. My family's business is "Steen Homes" (Custom Homebuilders & Real Estate Development). This family owned business has given me the working flexibility which enables me to go hunting & fishing more than most people. I often go with my Dad who is the "Boss" and also an avid hunter & fisherman. |
