I currently reside in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, on Canada's East Coast with my wife Amy and Labrador Retriever, Rocket.
I started waterfowl hunting at the age of twelve when my cousin introduced me to the sport. At the age of 21, after two years of studying resource management in college I started guiding for Wildgoose Lodge in French River, Prince Edward Island. I quickly moved through the ranks and in my second year of guiding was promoted to head guide, a position which I still hold. Through the years I have established myself as an effective and well known local waterfowl guide with a group return rate of close to 90 percent.
During my guiding career I have done hunts for various magazine articles as well as television. I guide approximately 40 days per year and spend another 15-20 days in the field waterfowl hunting. I have been lucky enough to have hunted waterfowl in all three maritime provinces, as well as Western Canada, where I have met some fine people and made good friends.
In September 2004 I formed a company named East Coast Calls, where I market my own design of short reed goose calls. At present I am marketing my calls locally but have plans to develop a web site in the next few months. My calls took first, second and fourth place at the Eastern Canadian Calling Championships in the open goose category and second, third and fourth in the two man goose. I personally placed second in the open duck category and fourth in the two man goose. I plan on continuing competition calling as more events are started in our region as well as possibly traveling to some.
I also am heavily involved with Delta Waterfowl in our region. Currently I am on the Prince Edward Island Chapter of Delta Waterfowl committee as well as the Eastern Canadian Calling Championship committee (which is a part of our annual Delta Dinner).
For the past two years I have conducted a goose calling seminar at our annual youth waterfowl day. This event usually hosts just over 100 kids each year. The week after the waterfowler day I mentor a youth to go hunting during the special one day youth waterfowl season.
Another off season interest of mine is dog training where I compete in CKC licensed hunt test and field trials. My male yellow lab has three senior passes as well as a CM in junior field trial for this season.
My love of the outdoors has led my life up to this point and if I am lucky enough it will continue.
