Derek Craig
As a waterfowl hunter, I am obsessed with passing on our hunting heritage to our youth.
I discovered Drake Waterfowl in 2003 as a young company and was ecstatic about the ingenuity in their products. I bought one of almost every thing that they had made at the time. - Derek Craig |

With no family hunting heritage to build upon, Derek paved his own way at becoming a successful outdoorsman. With the usual start through deer hunting, by the time he was in his late 20's the world of waterfowl hunting seemed like the next logical step. Beginning with ducks on pot holes and progressing to large field spreads for Canada Geese, waterfowl hunting has become an obsession for Derek. He is generally found hunting the wheat and corn fields of northern Indiana for honkers and mallards.
Derek's obsession has him typically found in the wheat and corn fields of northern Indiana for honkers and mallards. Starting with geese in September and following the progression of the seasons clear though the mid February time frame. While hunting alone is always relaxing, generally Derek has close friends and his young daughters by his side in the field. Derek also makes every effort to expose new hunters to the world of field hunting waterfowl.
Derek's passion for hunting goes well beyond waterfowl. Archery is an obsession as well. Spring turkeys rank with geese as this favorite game to pursue. Whether it is bow hunting mature whitetails, hog hunting in Florida or Texas, bear hunting in Canada, or bow hunting massive carp, Derek can almost always be found hunting some game animal nearly year round.
Derek is involved on a local level with various conservation organizations at a local level including Delta Waterfowl, Ducks Unlimited, and the National Wild Turkey Federation.
Derek's day job is being an owner of an Engineering and Fabrication company in Angola, Indiana. Derek is a licensed Professional Engineer with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan University. Derek has two young daughters and a wife of 14 years. Together, they live just outside of Angola, Indiana.
