Dave started heading into the woods and fields of New York with his dad and brother at the age of 12 for whitetails and small game. Although he was too young to actually hunt, the foundation for a life long passion was laid, and Dave has been chasing all species of game ever since.

Dave keeps active in the hunting sport year round while training and campaigning his Labrador Retrievers through out the spring and summer and then hunts them as much as possible in the fall and w inter. His passion for dogs has led him to 2 Grand Master Hunting Retriever titles, 3 Master Hunting Retriever titles, 3 Working Retriever titles and 2 Started retriever titles. Dave says that running hunt tests with the dogs keeps them in shape and tuned up for the real thing.

Being a wing-shooting addict, Dave travels outside his home state of New York to expand his opportunities almost every year. Trips in recent years have included the Maine coast for sea ducks, the mid-west for pheasant and waterfowl, the mid-Atlantic for doves and Saskatchewan for waterfowl. Trying to fit these in around the seasons at home has been challenging, as the waterfowl shooting can be as hot as anywhere in the US.

Admittedly, Dave likes wing shooting best but also enjoys hunting for white-tailed deer during both archery and gun seasons, and can be found in the spring woods looking for those elusive gobblers. Small game opportunities after duck and goose season are closed are also a favorite for Dave as rabbit, grouse and crow hunting take up most weekend mornings mid-January through March.

Being active with his retrievers, Dave has also been appointed to the SportDog Pro-Staff and the Mossy Oak Pro-Staff.

Dave considers his full time job hunting, but is actually employed by Cornell University as an Applied Research Entomologist. Working directly with farmers to help solve the insect problems they face with their crops gives him great satisfaction knowing that he was able to positively impact their harvest. This also helps Dave meet many landowners and gain permission to otherwise inaccessible property. When he's not hunting or training the dogs, Dave enjoys spending time with his daughter Kaitlyn. Dave is sure Kaitlyn will share his love for the outdoors and has already accompanied him on many scouting trips as well as to hunt tests through out the north east.
