At age 12, I got my first lab and tried to no avail to teach a gun-shy dog how to find quail and retrieve dove. As I got older, I spent more and more time hunting quail, rabbits, ducks and dove. I discovered deer and turkey hunting in high school and did my best to hunt as much as I could. Now I hunt whatever my lab can retrieve and spend as much time as my wife will let me to pursue our fine feathered friends. I also train my Labrador, Scout, and participate in hunt tests in the off season. My lab is currently completing her "Finished" work and will hopefully get her final two passes next year. One of my favorite aspects of waterfowl hunting is the time spent with friends and family in God's creation. Nothing beats seeing the sunrise with the steam from the coffee and listening to hunting stories from my Dad and my best friends. I am counting the days until my son will be able to put on his waders and join me in the spread! Here in northeast Oklahoma, we are quietly becoming a great little secret in duck hunting. With a great combination of lakes, timber, farm ponds and rivers, our area is beginning to attract a lot of ducks! More than just mallards, we attract all the other puddlers and many divers as well. You never know what the weather is going to bring here in Oklahoma, which means the local waterfowl hunter needs the best tools to be prepared for Mother Nature.
