Favorite Duck/Goose call: Echo Proudest Achievement: Becoming a father and competing in the Worlds Duck Calling Championship Email: budmannww@yahoo.com My name is Buddy Mann and I have always had a passion for the outdoors, thanks to both of my grandfathers. Growing up in Mississippi, I loved to hunt deer, turkey, and dove, and especially go fishing. About the only hunting I did not participate in was duck hunting. I was crazy enough to climb a tree when it was 30 degrees, but there was no way I was getting into the water. That changed my first time at home after joining the Air Force. In 1998, I went home for Christmas and some friends asked if I wanted to go duck hunting. I tried to convince them to go deer hunting, but they quickly replied that I could go along for my first duck hunt or stay at the house. Obviously, I tagged along for my first duck and have not been the same since that day. It seems ironic, but I had to move away from Mississippi to discover the sport to which I so passionately enjoy. Like most waterfowlers, I found all the different aspects of hunting, calling, being on the water, seeing birds work, and the outdoors combined into one hunting experience. That single hunt has changed my life forever. Since that first hunt, waterfowling has taken over my life. Duck season is a 365-day endeavor between painting decoys, working on boats and blinds, scouting, training my black Labrador Suzie, and competition duck calling. I am a member of the Echo Championship Calls Pro-Staff and have qualified for the World Championship Duck Calling Contests every year since 2005. Competing has afforded me the opportunity to be associated with Drake Waterfowl and I look forward to our continued relationship in the future. |
