Growing up I would spend countless hours sitting on my Grandfathers lap looking at his hunting magazines or listening to hunting and fishing stories that he would tell me. At the age of 7 he took me deer hunting for my first time and I was able to harvest my first deer, somehow managing to stay quiet long enough to not scare the deer away.
Soon after at the age of 12, my love for the outdoors and hunting turned into the obsession it is today when I was introduced to waterfowl hunting by my uncle. He took me to Arkansas to experience hunting in the Mississippi Flyway, which really spoiled me. This was probably a bad idea - now I find it hard to concentrate in class because I can only think about when my next waterfowl hunt will be. After my first trip to Arkansas, I was hooked and made several trips a year to several states in the flyway. Now during the season I am a guide for Hunters Paradise Lodge in Charleston, Mississippi.
Since the waterfowl season is only open in the winter, the rest of the year I can be found in my spare time on near by lakes fishing tournament, working with my loyal HRCH black lab Coal, training dogs getting them ready for the next waterfowl season, running hunt test and field trails, or working on my calling routines. I am currently a senior at the University of South Carolina and am majoring in Sports and Entertainment Management, with hopes of becoming a stock broker.
